Leadership Workshop.pdf
Summary
- Learnt the difference between leadership and management
- A leader convinces people to follow people them whereas managers are automatically listen to because of authority
- Leaders usually inspire people by setting an example through their actions
- Furthermore, one could also inspire by sharing a common goal or ambition
- Example: My former NSBE president shared how passionate she was about uplifting minorities in STEM and as a result, the passion rubbed off on the whole team thus making us work harder to make our events successful
Application to Club Responsibilities
- An effective leader is able to separate their responsibilities from their feelings, however they need to be able to get the team behind an idea
- This is likely accomplished through one-on-one conversations and frequent interactions
- This is important to note for my project as I would need to convince the NSBE team to see the value in what I hope to teach them about improvisation
