OJ is a final year Materials Engineering student at McMaster, specializing in computational materials. He held positions as the NSBE Secretary and Sports Coordinator for the McMaster Engineering Society in the 2020-21 academic year. This e-portfolio will track his progress and learning throughout the ENGINEER 3CX3 course.
During the Fall term, we participated in a series of workshops. Below are my reflections and takeaways from each of them. The Improvisation workshop spoke to me the most, therefore I decided to focus my Adventure around what I learned from it.

The file below details my initial plans and ideas for my workshop

Initial Plans Summary:
- Organize a workshop aimed at teaching the NSBE exec team about improvisation and how it plays a key role in networking
- Help the exec team become more creative in improvising during events
- Conduct a series of role-play games (similar to the ones from the workshop) to show adjusting one’s environment, or the information they have access to, can affect how they adapt in new scenarios
- Brainstorm and identify strategies that they could use to boost interaction during events and test out during on their final events of the year
However due to some scheduling conflicts, we ended up having a more discussion-led workshop instead of an activity-led one.
Final Plan Summary:
- Discussion-led workshop, hosted on Zoom, centered around Powerpoint slide
- The main goal was to identify potential elements that can be added to NSBE events in order to make students interact and network more without them making the conscious effort to do so
- Starts by introducing the concept of improvisation, how it plays a role in our everyday lives and its necessity during networking
